At 09:49 The 15 House was dispatched to the area of the Milton River Bridge for a hazmat incident. Arriving chiefs found oil on the roadway stretching 3.5 miles from Elm Street to a business on Old Route 15 in White Deer Township. Crews from Rescue and Engine 15 deployed pads and absorbent around storm drains to prevent entry into the waterways. Northumberland County Department of Public Safety responded with their sand truck and applied absorbent to the roadway. Units on scene: Chiefs 1501 Derr, 1502 Lupo, 1503 Whitenight, NC 49-1 Jeffery, Rescue 15, Engine 15, Traffic 15, Brush 15, Ambulance 5, Northumberland County Department of Public Safety, and Fire Police. While crews were operating the spill, a motor vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of South Arch and Race Streets. Crews made their way to the crash and found it to be no injuries. Fire Police assisted until the vehicles were removed.
