At 11:45 Hrs. The 15 House was dispatched to the old Warshaw building on Mahoning Street in the borough for a reported buidling fire. Chief 1501 responded and was advised that PD was on the scene with smoke showing. The Chief immediately struck a second alarm due to the size of the structure and not knowing what exactly was involved. Engine 15-1 responded first, dropping its tail line on Mahoning St. and proceeding down the railroad tracks to make entry. Truck 15-1 positioned on the D side and set up for vertical ventilation. The crew from the Truck made entry into the building to look for the fire and encountered moderate smoke, but no signs of heat or fire. Engine 15-2 picked up the tail line from Engine 15-1 and laid to the hydrant. The crew form Engine 15-1 pushed in about 20' and found a large machine that was on fire. The fire was knocked down quickly and second alarm stand-by crews were brought to the scene to assist with venting the large structure. Construction crews were cutting an old machine up when it caught fire and became to large for them to extinguish. Units remained on the scene for about two hours.
